Pedigrees by James Gorton Brooker

James Gorton Brooker, a Cumberland Quaker genealogist active in the first half of the 20th century, researched his own ancestry and many other families, I think mostly related to his. He compiled and laid out over 100 family trees based on his researches, and printed them on his own small printing press.

I have one in my possession, and others in my family have others. I expect that many people descended from the families concerned have copies.

There are also full sets in the Society of Genealogists in London and, I understand, in Carlisle Record Office.

The ones at the SoG are in rather poor condition. I've half a mind to ask permission to digitally photograph and upload them so that interested researchers can look at the content. Perhaps even transcribe to text and ultimately comment on what can be verified or corrected. If anyone would be interested in such an enterprise please let me know - mailto link at the foot of the page.

I have some photos which I don't have permission to upload but I'll make some notes here in due course.
