Further details

12. Thomas and Agnes (late 16th and early 17th centuries) of Loweswater and Whinfell Hall

Loweswater is in the west of the Lake District in Cumberland. Whinfell Hall is on the western slopes of Lorton Vale, to the north-east of Loweswater.

Thomas and Agnes had several children:
Agnes 1607
Thomas 1609
Peter 1612
Frances 1615
John 1619
Of these, I have information on only Peter - see below.

11. Peter (1612-1706) and Janet (d 1686) of Whinfell Hall

Peter married Janet. Their children were:
Agnes 1636
Janet 1637
Peter 1638
Richard 1640
Of these, there is some uncertain information about Richard - he may have been married and his wife died in 1704. He was a carpenter and remodelled the house at WHinfell Hall with gate towards the road. Above the gate is inscribed R. A. 1677.
For Janet, see below.

Janet the mother died in 1686, and Peter not until 1706, well into his 90s.

10. Janet (or Jane) (1637-1725)

In 1667, aged 30, Janet married Christopher WILSON at Richard Fawcett's house, Hall Bank, Eaglesfield. This indicates that she had become a Quaker - this is about 5 years prior to the first building of a Quaker meeting house at Pardshaw and so meetings in winter were held in Friends' houses. Whinfell Hall is, a few miles to the east of Pardshaw and Eaglesfield (depending on which road you take around the intervening hills).
