Jefferson

I have three generations of the JEFFERSON line, though I'm entirely endebted to Julian Gill for the information and haven't yet followed it up myself. Julian has a website here.

The generations of my Jefferson line are:

8. Robert and Mary JEFFERSON (lived in the 18th century) of Westward, Cumberland, Mary had been a HODGSON. More.

7. Robert (b. 1751) and Ann or Alice JEFFERSON of Stoneraise. Ann/Alice had been a NICHOLSON. More.

6. Margaret JEFFERSON (abt 1785 - 1875) who married Joseph Jackson. More.

Further details:

8. Robert and Mary (lived in the 18th century) of Westward, Cumberland

All I have on this Robert JEFFERSON is that he married Mary HODGSON and they had a son in 1751, also called Robert. Westward, where they baptised Robert, is to the north of the Lake District, near the main road between Carlisle and Workington.

7. Robert (b. 1751) and Ann or Alice of Stoneraise

Robert married Ann or Alice NICHOLSON in 1781, aged about 30. This was in Aikton, some distance to the north of Westward. They baptised 5 children in Stoneraise, a township of Westward parish:
Robert 1782
Margaret 1786 (see below)
Alice 1790
Elizabeth 1793
Francis 1795

6. Margaret (abt 1785 - 1875) who married Joseph JACKSON

Margaret married Joseph JACKSON in 1817. He was a farmer about 15 years older than her, from Ennerdale in the western Lake District. See his page for Margaret's married life, family and widowhood.
