Humans, like most creatures with material, flesh-and-blood, bodies have the following characteristics, which are independent of each other:
Height (measured in inches)
Build
Musculature
Fatness
Constitution modifier (always a whole number)
Calculated characteristics
The following characteristics are not fully independent. Some are precisely calculated from the determinants above, others may be within a range calculated from the determinants. Within these calculations, do not round off: use all fractions for the next calculation. Statistics used in play (Height in inches, Weight in pounds, Strength modifier, Max Load in pounds, Dexterity modifier, Constitution modifier, Body Points, Speed in 5ft squares and Base Fortitude Save Bonus) are rounded to the nearest whole number for use in play (round halves or more up, not down, for this purpose).
Extension equals height (in inches) cubed.
Frame equals Extension times Build, all divided by 5630.
Muscle Mass equals (Musculature times Extension divided by 3630) plus (Frame times Musculature divided by 4.6).
Fat Mass equals Frame times Fatness
Weight in pounds equals Frame plus Muscle Mass plus Fat Mass.
Strength equals (Muscle Mass times 6.3 divided by Reach)
Max Load in pounds equals Strength times 20
Strength Modifier equals Strength minus 5 (the result may be negative)
Body Point Multiplier equals 0.47, plus Constitution Modifier divided by 20
Body Points equal the square root of Weight, times Body Point Multiplier
Speed (in 5ft squares) can be within a range. The minimum Speed equals Strength times Height times the cube root of Height times 36 divided by Weight. The maximum Speed equals Strength times Height times the cube root of Height times 44 divided by Weight.
Dexterity can also be within a range. The minimum Dexterity equals 25 times Strength divided by Weight, plus 7.5 divided by the square root of Height. The maximum Dexterity equals 25 times Strength divided by Weight, plus 52.5 divided by the square root of Height.
Dexterity modifier equals Dexterity minus five (the result may be negative).
Base Fortitude Save Bonus equals Weight divided by 100
Feats
Creatures can have body feats from the following list (subject to any prerequisites and take-multiple-times rules for individual feats):
Acrobatic
Agile
Alertness
Athletic
Deft Hands
Diehard
Endurance
Great Fortitude
Improved Initiative
Nimble Fingers
Stealthy
Tireless Rage
Toughness
Levels
Each statistic used in play has a points value. The creature has one body level per 100 points (round to the nearest whole level).

Standard Humans
For initial playtest, use determinant characteristics equal to or between the Low and High numbers in the following tables. The intermediate figures are guidelines suggesting a distribution of values by sex for a 'normal' human population based loosely on historical models and therefore somewhat smaller than populations in the modern affluent world.
