Kitchin

(also Kitchen)

I have three generations of the KITCHIN line, though I'm much endebted to Julian Gill for the information and haven't yet followed it all up myself. Julian has a website here.

John KITCHIN married Hannah JACKSON 1787 in Gosforth, south-west Cumberland. Following that they lived in nearby Seascale, where John was a yeoman. John died in 1801 and was buried in Gosforth.

Their son Henry KITCHIN was born about 1789 and baptised in Gosforth. He married Sarah COLEBANK in 1814 in Gosforth. In the early years of their marriage he's described as a husbandman, but in his 50s as a farmer.

Their daughter Sarah KITCHIN, born about 1817 in nearby Irton, moved to Liverpool, and married John TOMLINSON in 1845. She moved with him to Whitehaven further up the coast from Gosforth, and died there in 1894
