And on the 3rd of 11th Mo. the same year died Mary Beeby writer of the foregoing Memorandums – whose worth will long be remembered by her near and dear connections in life. May we who are left behind strive to imitate her excellent example.

What follows is copied from the Carlisle Patriot dated 8th of 11th Mo. 1817:

On the 3rd instant aged 37 died Mary Beeby one of the Society of Friends. For many years past she was much tried with ill health which she bore with a cheerful resignation that evinced the source she drew her consolations from. To her near relations the loss is great also to many, not connected by the ties of consanguinity, who respected and admired her exemplary private virtues.

On the 9th of 4th Mo. 1818 Cousin Mary Harker was married at Bromfield Church to Dr William Lomas of Aspatria he died of typhus fever the 25th of 10th month 1822 and Jane Agnes daughter of the above was born the 4th of 1st month 1820 and married at Aspatria the 21st of 11th month 1837 to William Tompson of Workington and died 31st. of 3rd month 1839.

In the beginning of 3rd Mo. 1819 Ann Williamson was confined of twins a boy and a girl. The former was still born the latter named Ann Hannah survived her Mother untill 6 and a ½ years old as Ann only lived until 26th of 4th month following the confinement and died in her 33rd year - it may truly be said of her as previously of Mary Beeby her Mother was a virtuous woman and her price far above rubies.

On the 7th of 3rd Mo. 1826 Mary the daughter of William Beeby died of consumption aged about 15 years and 3 months. On the 12th of 8th Mo. 1837 Daniel son of Wm Beeby was married to Mary Ann Hodgson at Liverpool he being Captain of a small Brigg named the Friends that was built at Maryport in 1826 and launched 1st of 1st Mo. 1827 for Wm Beeby his Father and continued with her until the 8th of 2nd Month 1838 which did not complete a full year for him in that station, when he sailed from Cove of Cork and was no more heard of aged 24 years and has left a widow aged 18 years, who remained his widow untill the latter end of 3rd Mo. 1842 was then remarried to a young man named Wm Steward.

On the 4th of 3rd Mo. Daniel Beeby Senior died at his own house in Allonby aged 88 years and was interred on the 7th of the same in Friends burying ground at the same place after residing their between 58 and 59 years in the year 1836 he sold the dwelling house and conveniences his Father Nicholas Beeby had bestowed upon him to Mary Lomas his Niece for which he received of her a piece of ground in part payment called the garden belonging to the fish yard adjoining the two houses previous mentoned being built in 1815 where he built two more houses in 1836 & 1837.

On the 24th of 5th Mo. 1838 Thomas son of Wm & Ann Williamson was married in Frd's Meeting-house at Pardshow to Deborah Robinson of that place only child of Joseph & Mary Robinson in his 23rd year.

And on the 25th of 10th Mo. same year Mary Williamson his sister was married to Richard Hall of Waverton only son of Joseph and Jane Hall of that place their Union took place in Allonby Friends meeting-house she was about 21 ½ years.

On the 3lst of 3rd Mo. 1839 Jane Agnes Thomsons daughter of Mary Lomas of Allonby died aged 19 years and nearly 3 month having been married a little more than 1 year and 4 Mo. the interrment took place at Aspatria on the 4th of 4th Mo. She suffered much in her last illness. it was pleasent to behold her so patient and resigned.

On the 10th day of 9th Mo. 1839 Mary Hall was brought to bed of the first child a boy who was named Joseph after his paternal Grandfather.

Uncle John Glaister died at Allonby 7th day of 15th [sic] Month 1837 aged 78 years. Mary Glaister widow of the above died at Newtown at the house of her daughter Rachel Little where she had been removed after her husbands decease on the 11th of 3rd month 1839. I belive she was aged about 92 years.

On the 1st of 12th Mo. 1840 Mary Hall was confined of her second child being a daughter who was named Ann after her maternal Grandmother & on the 1st of 8th Mo. 1843 another Daughter named Jane.

Nicholas Beeby son of William and Mary Beeby died at Wolsty on the 29th of 10th Mo. 1839 leaving behind a wife and 9 childeren aged about 40 years, Mary Beeby widow of the late William Beeby also died at Wolsty 2nd month 25th day 1841 aged about 78 years.

William Beeby was married in the Friends meeting-house at Allonby to Sarah Steel Daughter of Peter & Mary Steel late of Ullock in the Parish of Dean on the 5th of 11th Mo. 1840, and in the following year 10th Mo. 7th was born unto them a son whom they named Daniel after his paternal Grandfather.

On the 29th of 11th Mo. 1840 was born unto Thomas and Deborah Williamson a son whom they named William after his paternal Grandfather and on the 7th of 9th Mo. 1842 was born a second son named Joseph Robinson and on the 3rd of 3rd Mo. 1844 a third son named Jonathan. In 1846, 6th 6th Mo. a fourth son named John.

Mary Beeby daughter of the above N Beeby who died 19th of 11th Mo. 1849 aged about....

On the 2nd of 8th Mo. 1843 was born unto Wm & Sarah Beeby a Daughter whom they named Mary. And on the 27th of 8th Mo. 1844 the said Wm Beeby died in his 63rd year leaving behind his wife and the two before mentioned children.

3rd of 1st Mo. 1845 Died John Beeby Brother to the said Wm aged nearly 62 yrs.

Richard & Mary Hall had a second son named William born in the 3rd of 3rd Mo. 1845 also a third Daughter named Sarah in 15th of 12th Mo. 1846. 14th of 10th Mo. 1848 was born unto them a fourth Daughter named Rachel.

On the 15th of 12th Mo. 1849 died Rachel Beeby sister to Mary Beeby writer of first part of these memorandums and last of that family of the same generation. She has been an invalid confined to her bed for more 20 years, she will be very much missed in Allonby having been a kind friend of the poor being of industerious habits she laboured with her hands to releive their wants I belive she bore her long illness with christian patience, and we doubt not she is gone to her eternal rest where she will meet with a rich reward, the above was aged 65 years. On the 26th of' 9th Mo. 1850 Mary Hall was brought to bed of her seventh child a boy who was named Josiah after his paternal great Grandfather Josiah Priestman of Howbeck near Hesket new-market as well as his paternal Uncle Josiah Hall who died when about 11 years of age.

On the 14th of 3rd Mo. 1852 was born unto Richard and Mary Hall a son who was named Thomas Williamson Hall after his mothers Brother and Uncle.

On the 27th of 12th Mo. 1852 There has been a great deal of high winds a very high tides such a one as has not been known since 1st Mo. of 1796 mentioned in the first part of these Memorandums

On the 29th of 10th Mo. Mary Hall was brought to bed of her fifth son who was named John. It happened when her husband was attending a conference of the Society of Friends in London. On the subject of Impropriate Tithes rent charge having been appointed a representative from this qua'ly meeting along with other two friends. No inconvendenience resulted from his absence but all was very favourable which ought to call forth our sincere and grateful acknowledgements to him who watched over & protected us.

In the year 1841 William Beeby made up 9 Cottage Houses out of that part of the fishery yard willed to him by his Father Daniel Beeby also the lead pipe that crossed the street was taken up and the pump repaired by the said Wm Beeby Jona Sim Senior and others.

In the year 1851 The house in which Rachel Beeby lived joining the sawyard on the South and her Brothers on the North.

After her Death Half of the said house became the Property of Daniel and Mary Beeby Son and Daughter of Wm Beeby Brother of the said Rachel Beeby. The other Half of the said House fell to Thomas Williamson and Mary Hall his sister. And in the same year Sarah Beeby mother of David and Mary Beeby bought that part of the House belonging To Thomas Williamson and Mary Hall for 125£ that part being now her own Property.

In the 1854 I took my son Daniel Beeby to a school at Colchester in Essex. S Beeby.

Sarah Beeby widow of the aforementioned William Beeby died on the 4th of 7th month 1864 after a long continued illness.

On the 11th of 10th Month 1864 Daniel Beeby son of the aforesaid William & Sarah Beeby was taken to York Retreat.

On the 15th of 3rd Month 1866 Mary Sister of the above mentioned Daniel & Daughter of William & Sarah Beeby was married to Samuel Bettony & on the following year on the second of 3rd Month 1867 was born a son called William Beeby & on the 7th of 3rd Month 1868 was born another son called Edward

On the 2nd of 4 Month 1870 was born a daughter called Sarah Elizabeth on the 6th 1872 of fifth Month was born another whom we called Samuel Williamson. On the 27th of 4th Month 1874 was born another son whome we called Fredrick Hall & on the 23rd of 4th Month 1876 was born another daughter whome we called Robina Mary. M. Bettoney.

On the 3rd of fifth Month 1876 died Daniel Beeby son of William & Sarah Beeby before mentioned at York Retreat aged 34 years. M. Bettoney. On the 20th of 8th Month 1882 The afore Mentioned William Beeby eldest son of Samuel & Mary Bettony was killed by falling from the Top mast of the Barque Southerfield of Maryport 18 days sailed from [Squique ?] South America aged 15 years.
